The Arunachal Pradesh Government has provided substantial support since the event’s inception in 2024, contributing to critical infrastructure like the Kayaking Village, participant facilities, roads, and public amenities. This support not only boosts tourism but also creates sustainable local economic opportunities, improving healthcare, transportation, and services in Tawang.
Community Engagement & Empowerment
The government has engaged local communities through workshops, creating jobs and training opportunities in kayaking and event management. These efforts ensure that Tawang’s residents are active contributors to the event’s success, with local vendors and youth involved in the event’s execution
Chapter 2: Scaling New Heights in 2026
Under the leadership of the Hon’ble Chief Minister and Hon. Cabinet Minister Shri Kiren Rijiju, the state has worked to elevate the event to international standards. Official Recognition & Annual Event Status
The TTIKC has been officially included as an annual event in the state’s calendar, ensuring continued support and recognition. This positions Arunachal Pradesh as a premier destination for sports tourism, drawing global athletes and tourists.
Forming a Local Support Body (LSB)
A Local Support Body, made up of community leaders and youth groups, has been established to ensure long-term sustainability and local involvement. The LSB will handle event planning, training, and community feedback, ensuring that the championship benefits both participants and the local economy.
This partnership highlights the government’s commitment to fostering inclusive growth while promoting Arunachal Pradesh as a global adventure sports destination.
